How I found a way out (2026)

Synopsis
A story of recovery driven by community support.
Luz suffered from depression as a result of violence in her relationship and at work. For years, she remained trapped in a difficult cycle, until community work became a source of support, strength, and personal reconstruction. Her story reflects one of the central principles of Bienestar: Estar Bien: healing does not happen in isolation, but in community.

Context
Created for Alianza Americas, a Chicago-based network of Latin American and Caribbean migrant-led organizations, this series was produced as part of the Bienestar: Estar Bien initiative. The campaign addresses mental health stigma in Latino and immigrant communities and highlights how migration, discrimination, violence, and political uncertainty can affect emotional well-being. Through personal testimonies, the series emphasizes community care, culturally relevant support systems, and access to mental health services as essential tools for healing and collective well-being.
