about Fernando valencia.
I am a Mexican documentary filmmaker and visual anthropologist dedicated to telling stories that inspire change and amplify underrepresented voices. My passion for non-fiction storytelling emerges from the intersection of two major interests: social justice and cinematic language.
I have worked in the non-profit sector as a communications professional, developing extensive experience in video production—from scripting and field production to editing and postproduction—collaborating closely within dynamic communications teams. Through this work, I’ve used visual storytelling to elevate issues related to health, education, migration, and rural development.
My journey as a documentary filmmaker began with a deep curiosity about the social realities of my home country. Over the years, this passion has taken me across Latin America, expanding into a broader mission: using video and film to shed light on stories of resilience and transformation. I have directed four short films, edited one, and served as a production advisor on an award-winning feature documentary.
I believe in the power of storytelling to drive change and am always seeking new collaborations to bring impactful narratives to life.
