Esperanza decided to break the cycle of violence and embark on a recovery process that transformed her life and that of her family. Her testimony shows how access to emotional and community support can rebuild self-esteem and lead to a freer, safer, and more dignified life.
Context
Created for Alianza Americas, a Chicago-based network of Latin American and Caribbean migrant-led organizations, this series was produced as part of the Bienestar: Estar Bien initiative. The campaign addresses mental health stigma in Latino and immigrant communities and highlights how migration, discrimination, violence, and political uncertainty can affect emotional well-being. Through personal testimonies, the series emphasizes community care, culturally relevant support systems, and access to mental health services as essential tools for healing and collective well-being.
