Synopsis
Jota’s brother was murdered in 1990 by the Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad in the context of Colombia’s armed conflict. Years later, Jota is offered the chance to avenge his brother’s death—in exchange for weapons, money, and power. Faced with a choice between revenge and survival, he must decide: accept the offer, or run.

Context
Produced for Red de Víctimas Colombianas por la Paz Latinoamérica y el Caribe, the series Memorias desde el exilio (Memories from Exile) documents the experiences of survivors of Colombia’s armed conflict who were forced to leave their country but remain politically active in the peacebuilding process. Through intimate interviews with Nélida, Jota, and Margarita, the project explores how exile shapes identity, activism, and the ongoing struggle to ensure that victims’ voices remain part of Colombia’s path toward peace.
