Recycling What’s Thrown Away (2017)

Synopsis
In this chapter, Saint Francis of Assisi reflects on waste and consumption, revealing how what society discards becomes the livelihood of others.

Context
Created for Red Eclesial Panamazónica (REPAM), The Traveler from Assisi draws inspiration from Laudato Si', the environmental encyclical of Pope Francis that calls for renewed care for our “common home.” While the narrative is animated, each episode incorporates documentary-style live-action footage, connecting the story to real-world experiences and environmental challenges. This documentary dimension was made possible through the support of activists across Latin America, who graciously contributed raw footage from their communities to help ground the series in lived realities.
